Paul is almost done with his defense. And we have seen how well he defended his ministry using sarcastic statements. We also have learned that even in plain reasoning, a man who lives righteously though being accused will in the end prove himself upright in the sight of the Lord.
In verse 1 of this chapter, Paul will be coming to Corinth for the third time, first was when he had their mission trip, the second was the “painful visit”, and this will be the third time.
As Paul continues to defend his ministry one last time, he sarcastically reiterated the previous arguments that he raised in defending his ministry. In addition, he seems like to be blaming the Corinthian Church about his actions.
But first, let us review again what were the accusations against Paul where he was vindicated.
How should a minister of Christ lives in the midst of weaknesses? In this part of the book, we will refer trials, diseases, difficulties, persecutions, and insults as weaknesses because these things can cause us to get discouraged and weak.
Now let us discuss what kind of boasting will it be seeing Paul as a fool. Before Paul continued, he made it clear that he is not talking as the Lord would but as fool considering that some people see him as a fool (v.17).
Taking him therefore as a fool would give him the opportunity to boast on something. And these were the things he boasts about.
