Did Mary Remained A Virgin After Giving Birth To Jesus?

In one of the email forums that I’ve been following, there were two question raised that I will try to answer in this post. The questions were:

1. Did Mary remained a virgin after giving birth to Jesus?
2. or.. Did Jesus have natural physical “brothers” or “sisters”?

To answer these questions, the answer is found in Matthew 13:54-58 and Mark 6:1-6. The context of the incident was that Jesus is in Nazareth, his home town. People used to know him and his parents along with brothers and sisters. In Mark 6:3, please note that the people said “Is this not the carpenter’s son?”. It did not mentioned of Joseph because according to tradition and some writings, Joseph was “probably” (I used probably because it’s unsure and have not been confirmed) dead during this time. Furthermore, the context speaks that that the people there are trying to question the legitimacy of Christ’s birth, thus insulting him / offended at him(v.3). This is why Jesus said in verse 4, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” Jesus did not do great miracles there (v.5)

Is Sola Scriptura (Bible Alone) Biblical?

In one of the blogs that I have been following, there was a question raised; “Where exactly in the Bible that Sola Scriptura appear?”, well I would like to answer this question in a non-debatable way.

Here it is, as far as my study is concern, I haven’t seen that the Bible says, “sola scriptura”. However, you can find lots of passages against “Tradition” and you can see lots of passages in the Bible that tells us to read and study the word of the Lord.

The Role of Discipline

What is the role of Discipline inside the Church? Is it really necessary? Most people once they undergo the discipline process start to ask these questions. Going back to the previous post, we have learned that discipline is intended for restoration of a sinning brother and not to condemn anyone.

A Discipline Insight

Matthew 18:15-20 is probably one of the most popular passages about discipline. Here we can see that the offender has been given chances for repentance. It is very important to note how Jesus Christ presented the matter to his disciples.

How To Avoid False Doctrines

A Biblical Sermon In Avoiding False Doctrines

Text: 2Timothy 2:14-19

Introduction

In our quest in understanding the words of Paul in the book of 2Timothy, we can see here that one of the main emphases of Paul is not only to persevere but to be watchful as we persevere. We are to endure hardships accompanied by watchfulness in our walk.

Here we see that whenever there are hardships, tendencies of falling away and believing to false doctrines might occur. This is why we have so many superstitious beliefs. We have undergone so many hardships and trials, and with the flow of circumstances, we fell into making “hasty generalization” which caused us to fall into false beliefs

What are we to do to avoid all these things to happen?

2Ti 2:14 Keep reminding them of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen.

2Ti 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

2Ti 2:16 Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.

2Ti 2:17 Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,

2Ti 2:18 who have wandered away from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some.

2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”
