Lesson 3A: Basic Inductive Bible Study

There are several different kinds of Bible Study Methods that are equally effective (depending on the use and delivery). In Rick Warren’s book “12 Dynamic Bible Study Methods”, Rick Warren presented 12 nice Bible study methods. Personally, I already have tried all of them and found it very advantageous for my ministerial work.

However, since we are just trying to work on simple things, we will concentrate on simple things. I just want to assure the first timers that doing a simple Inductive Bible Study is an adventure.

Lesson 2: Basic Elements Of Sermon Manuscripts

Sermon Manuscripts are simply your sermon “blue print”. It is more or less your copy for your sermon outlines and content. For the purpose of our study, we will need to learn how to make a sermon manuscript which is very useful to beginners like you.

Like all other ministries, Sermons has basic elements. Usually, these elements are very necessary so that our sermons can be clearly understood by our hearers. Thus, each element plays a very important role.

Theme
This is the main topic of preaching. In some books that I have read, Topic and Theme has been defined separately. Well to be exact, they are different from each other. Theme is broader while Topic is more defined in scope.

Theme stands for the scope of the whole program of the church. Let’s say the year theme of your church is all about “The Cost of Discipleship”. Under it, we can discuss about; “What are the cost of being a disciple”, “Who are the real disciples?”, “What are the things to do in being a disciple?”, “How to become a disciple?”, “Characteristics of a good disciple”.

Lesson 1: Introduction To Preaching

What is Preaching?

The dictionary defines it as: “To proclaim or publish tidings; specifically, to proclaim the gospel; to discourse publicly on a religious subject, or from a text of Scripture; to deliver a sermon.
[1913 Webster]”

The difference between preaching and homiletics is that preaching is the actual discourse of public speaking of proclaiming the gospel while homiletics is a form of pastoral theology where it is a branch of rhetoric that treats of the composition and delivery of sermons or homilies (Wikipedia).

How To Preach Effectively And Get People Listening To You

Learning How To Preach Effectively

I hope this will really help those who are being trained right now to preach. This is also very helpful to those ordinary members who are being trained to lead a devotional study during a prayer meeting or camping.

There are lots of factors that affect the mood of people to get them listening to you. The past week may sometimes be very straining to your listeners which caused them to have “floating minds” on Sunday morning. Some of them may also be experiencing some problems.

However, there are some factors that can really be attributed to the preacher. And these are things where we can do something to improve the rate of our listeners. Here are some effective tips to have your audience listen to you.
