“. . .that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him—the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know what is the Hope of His calling and what the riches of the Glory of His inheritance in the saints and what is the exceeding greatness of His Power to us who believe, according to the working of His mighty Power.”

Ephesians 1:17-19

When the Light shines in our hearts, the devilish, deep darkness flees, revealing to us Who God is and all He gives to those who seek Him.

“The spirit of wisdom and revelation.”

That’s what every truly born-again believer in/follower of Christ receives when Jesus takes up residence in one’s heart.  Given by “the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory,” our once-blinded minds (II Cor. 4:4) are awakened and suddenly we begin to think differently.  We begin looking at things and others differently.  And, consequently, we begin acting differently (or should).

All because of “the knowledge of Him. . .Jesus. . .the Christ. . .the Anointed, Promised, ‘Sent One’ from God.”

Now, we should notice this “enlightenment” is not something we do or achieve through our own efforts or education; instead, it is “GIVEN unto us by God, the Father of Glory.”  And, this “understanding” is not mental ability; it is “soul-sensitivity” whereby we come alive to Christ and start dying to Self.

Oh, dear Pilgrim, the Heavenly Father wants us to “praise the Glory of His Grace as we realize He has made us accepted/acceptable in the Beloved” (1:6).  He wants us to know “the mystery of His Will” (1:9) and how we’re “sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise, Who is the earnest (down-payment) of our inheritance” (1:13-14).  Hallelujah!

Yes, He wants us to know “what is the Hope of His calling”—i.e., the “Anchor of the soul that is both sure and steadfast” (Heb. 6:19) and enables us to face the future unafraid.  Likewise, He wants us to know “what are the riches of the Glory of His inheritance in the saints,” which is what we have both now and in the future as an adopted, pardon child of God.

And, He wants us to be “more than conquerors through Him (Jesus),Who loved us” (Rom. 8:37) by coming to understand the “exceeding greatness—i.e., going beyond mere ‘great’ to Resurrection supernatural—of His Power to us who believe, according to the working of His mighty Power.”  Or, another way to put it is, He wants us to allow Him to unleash within us that same Power that was operational in Christ. . .which Jesus Himself said is available to us if we’ll only believe (Jn. 14:12-14).

Do you see it, Pilgrim?  Do you see it?

“Enlightened eyes” lead to energized lives (Is. 40:31).  That’s why we must cease-and-desist from living in our own strength and start living in His (Phil. 4:13).  That’s why we must die to Self so we can be “strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man” (Eph. 3:16).  Now that you know the Truth, start living in it/Him.  “Loose Him and let Him go” (Jn. 11:44b).
