“Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us—for after that He had said before, ‘This is the Covenant I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts and in their minds will I write them’.”
Hebrews 10:15-16
That day in the mountain
When Moses met with the Lord,
He saw His Glory passing by
After giving him His Word.
On two tablets of stone He wrote His Will
For His People to daily obey;
Yet, even before Moses could deliver them,
The folks were doing things their own way.
Our Lord knew that tablets of stone
Can never change the sinful heart—
For it’s only when we surrender our wills to Him
That we’re given a brand-new start.
Tablets of stone are cold and hard,
So easy to forget are they.
But, when His Word’s written upon our hearts
We’ll always remember what our Lord does say.
No longer do we have to try to remember
The words on pages we’ve read—
Not when they’re written upon our hearts,
For it’s then we remember what He has said.
By daily hiding God’s Word in our hearts
We learn how to not sin against Him.
And, by daily applying His Truth to our lives
We keep from sin and every lustful whim.
When His Word lives within us
And guides us in the Way we should go,
We need not fear what the day may bring—
For we’re led by the Savior Who knows.
In sorrow He’s our comfort;
In trials He’s our stay.
And, with His Word written on our hearts
We’ll always rejoice, regardless of what comes our way.
