God Gave The Way For A Man To Be Saved

In our world, millions of people say that no one knows when or how can he be saved. Thousands of religious leaders teach things that are simply untrue. Many of them twisted the passages from the Bible in order to fit to their own beliefs. Such people also have lead thousands of people to become atheist.

Influenced by critical reasoning and unbelief to the Bible, many of them turned to be opponents of the truth that exists in the Bible. Even God’s promises in the Bible became invalid because of unbelief and skepticism concerning the validity of the Bible.

Ironically, millions of people around the world celebrate Christmas without knowing its real meaning and without internalizing the picture behind Christmas. People have forgotten that Christ our Savior was born. Of course, he was not born exactly on December 25th, but none the less, I do not find anything wrong in celebrating our Savior’s birth in the flesh in whatever date we want.

Here we see that the salvation that God gave to us is very important. It was given freely to all people. We do not have to pay for it, because it is a gift of God. But how does really a person attains salvation? This is a question that bothers millions of people, and the same question that I want to answer based on what the Bible says. Not by addition of any other book, but solely what the Bible says.

Ephesians 2:8-10 is one of the best passages that talks about salvation. It is clear, concise and complete.

Eph 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–

Eph 2:9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

Eph 2:10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Let us discuss them one by one. In verse 8, it is very clear in saying that it is “by” grace that we have been saved “through” faith. Because of the great love of God for us that he gave us “grace”, which stands for a favor that we do not deserve. And it is “through” faith that we can claim that salvation.

Believing in Christ which is the “grace” that God gave (John 3:16) is the key to salvation. Here we see that there is only one way in salvation that is having faith in Christ Jesus. Jesus even claimed it in John 14:6, “I am the way the truth and the life, no one come to the Father except through me.”

The same verse says that “it is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God”. This means that no matter what we do, no matter how good we are, we cannot save ourselves nor is a way to salvation, it is still by grace through faith. Such thing is a gift of God, a free gift that everybody can claim. Unfortunately, many people neglected, and never claimed the greatest gift of all, Jesus Christ.

The next verse even made it clear that salvation in neither by works nor through works. This is completely in contrast to what other group teaches that salvation is by grace through faith plus works. The passage clearly states that it is not by works that we are saved or else we can interpret it as another way to salvation, which we can save ourselves.

But does it mean that we don’t need to do good works anymore once we have faith in Jesus Christ? In verse 10, it clearly says that we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works. This means that in our creation as human beings, we are supposed to do good works and not to become rebels against God. This is supposed to be a natural thing to do and not a condition to God that if we become a believing Christian, we will do good works.

Once we become a believing Christian, all the more that we have to do good works. Obedience to God should be our main purpose, pleasing him like a good soldier of Christ.

Salvation is very similar to this:

If I will give a gift to you, you will never be the owner of that gift unless you claim it and have it. Unless you take the gift that I prepared for you, that gift will never be yours when it comes to ownership.

What if you took the gift, but you never used it, does it have any benefit to you? Absolutely nothing. Unless, you use the gift, the gift will give you no benefit.

This is what salvation looks like. God gave salvation to all human beings. All we have to do is to accept it and wear it, wear the new life that we have in Christ Jesus. Millions of people around the world knew that gift, unfortunately they did not claim it (they did not believe in Christ Jesus, the grace that was given by God the Father). This is why even if it is free, only few were able to get it.

There are also some people who claimed that gift, but never used the gift. They still live like those who did not claim the gift. Thus, they never benefited from that gift.

This is a challenge to you who reads this important message. Are you one of those millions of people around the world who knew the gift but never claimed it? Are you one of those who claimed the gift but never used it?

Or, are you one of those very few, who claimed the gift, and used that gift of grace, wearing new life in Christ Jesus?

Again, such gift is free, waiting only for you to claim it. Claim it now, have faith in Jesus Christ.
