New Date Set For Judgment Day October 21, 2011

May 21, 2011 predicted Judgment Day failed. Some members are probably now disbanding from the group of Harold Camping for its false date setting of the second coming and rapture. But for preacher Harold, it is not enough to fail… he can try again. In an interview, Harold Camping admitted that the May 21, 2011 [...]

Self – Flagellation During Easter Effective or Useless?

Every year during Easter season, Filipinos used to celebrate “Semana Santa” or the Holy Week. Most people think that it is a time for reflection and payment of sins. This is why some people hurt themselves thinking that every whip they make on themselves can pay the sins they made in the past year. They [...]

True Prophecy vs False Prophecy

Most Common False Prophecies

In our world today, there are many false prophecies and false prophets. This part two of the Gifts of The Holy Spirit Series will tell you the most common false prophecies that until now many people get into being scammed. I hope this will also serve as a warning to every Christian out there to be very careful in examining prophecies. After all, Paul said in 1 Corinthians 14, that we are to weigh carefully the prophecies being spoken.

King James Version Bible Against New International Version Bible

KJV Bible versus NIV Bible, Which One is The Best?

I was deeply intrigued upon reading this article concerning the issues against New International Version. For so long, I have found NIV to be a Bible that is very much easy to understand especially that English is not my first language. I have been using New International Version for so long that I have made so many notes within my Bible.

However, just yesterday, a friend of mine forwarded this very intriguing article that I found to be a MUST to read especially if you are a pastor, a Bible interpreter, or a worker. I am not so skeptic against Bible translations. But I think this article is worth my time to read. And I found it very helpful to take note of the things that I need to look at a Bible Interpreter.

By far, as I have remember in my training which includes Bible history, background and some glimpse (not detailed) about these codexes like Textus Receptus, Vaticanus and Sinaiticus, its just, its the only available manuscripts out the there that can be a reference for the newer translations.

Now, to set up the reliability issue, let’s put it in this way, Dr. William Grady is a scholar who have his personal opinion about the validity and reliability of Textus Receptus. But how about the opinion of other Bible scholars who would say Vaticanus and Sinaiticus are more reliable? Which scholars are more reliable then if they have the same degree?

By the way, Dr. William Grady is the author of Final Authority: A Christian’s Guide to the King James Bible to which I really wish I could get my hand on this very intriguing book.

Furthermore, I am not so sold out to say that KJV is the “ONLY” true and authoritative translation of the Scripture for the main reason of its historical background. I believe I have already said this several times in preaching. King James is homosexual. To avoid having conflicts with Puritants (which we know one of the major group reformers) he granted them the authority to translate this new English version that came to be known as KJV. This simply means that it was born out of King James’ personal interest. But in fairness, I would certainly admit that King James Version of the Bible is really the finest by far.

Did Mary Remained A Virgin After Giving Birth To Jesus?

In one of the email forums that I’ve been following, there were two question raised that I will try to answer in this post. The questions were:

1. Did Mary remained a virgin after giving birth to Jesus?
2. or.. Did Jesus have natural physical “brothers” or “sisters”?

To answer these questions, the answer is found in Matthew 13:54-58 and Mark 6:1-6. The context of the incident was that Jesus is in Nazareth, his home town. People used to know him and his parents along with brothers and sisters. In Mark 6:3, please note that the people said “Is this not the carpenter’s son?”. It did not mentioned of Joseph because according to tradition and some writings, Joseph was “probably” (I used probably because it’s unsure and have not been confirmed) dead during this time. Furthermore, the context speaks that that the people there are trying to question the legitimacy of Christ’s birth, thus insulting him / offended at him(v.3). This is why Jesus said in verse 4, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” Jesus did not do great miracles there (v.5)

How To Interpret The Bible?: Exegesis vs. Allegory

There are two main schools of interpretation. One is call “Allegorical” while the other is “Exegetical”.

What’s the difference between the two???
Allegorical Interpretation is – “Giving” meaning to the passages of the Bible.
Exegetical Interpretation is – Extracting, or getting the “original” intended meaning of the author of the passages in the Bible.

I have read some works of Catholic writers who uses “Allegorical Interpretation”. I believe I have lost one copy of my document written by St. Francis of Assisi that interprets the passage in the book of Matthew about the good Samaritan. Anyway, I just want to point out that it is almost totally different from Exegetical point of view.

Authoritative Sources: Biblical vs. Extra Biblical

As you have said, “Catholic understanding of the true teaching can be mistaken including your personal understanding of it.” And that you believe that “however it changes, it’s part of God’s Divine Plan.” Your last statement is again a departure from the Biblical point of view. The Bible says in Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow,

In Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33 (recorded in the 3 synoptic gospels) “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” As you see, God’s word is suppose not to be changing and definitely authoritative changes as you say is NOT a part of “God’s Divine Plan” in contradiction to what was already exposed in these passages. And please note that it is Jesus who have said these things.

As you have said Catholics are secured for they can always get the correct “version” by reading the written teachings from the “official release”. Really? Correct version or just a uniform version? How come that many of these official releases directly contradicts Biblical teachings. Is this what you call “security”??? You should NOT find this calming, but ALARMING. Hebrews 13:9 “Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.”
