New Date Set For Judgment Day October 21, 2011

May 21, 2011 predicted Judgment Day failed. Some members are probably now disbanding from the group of Harold Camping for its false date setting of the second coming and rapture. But for preacher Harold, it is not enough to fail… he can try again. In an interview, Harold Camping admitted that the May 21, 2011 [...]

How Are We Going To Be Resurrected

Perhaps some of you is still pondering of how are we going to be resurrected. I even heard that some does not even want to be cremated so that (according to them) when Christ comes back, his body will still be complete and not just a bunch of dusts and ashes. Our sermon passage today is 1 Corinthians 15:35-49.

Events At The End of The Age

Now we have come to the point that Paul is describing what will it be in the resurrection of those who have fallen asleep. The next series of verses is about the end of the age. Let us talk about the sequence of Christ’s second coming.

But Who May Abide?

“But who may abide the Day of His coming? And, who shall stand when He appears?. . .”

Malachi 3:2a

To those who refuse to repent, He will not be the rejoicing Father; He will be the Righteous Judge.

Doomsday prophets.

That’s what those who preach like Malachi are called by those who scorn, mock and reject their message. Much better (to their way of thinking) is the popular preacher who waxes eloquently on “health, wealth and prosperity” or “10 Steps on How to Be Successful In Life.”

But, “watchmen on the wall” cannot keep quiet when “there’s a sword in the land” (Ez. 33:2-4). And, his/her failure to do so comes at great peril and price—both to the watchmen and those under their watch (vv.5-8).

Malachi’s question in today’s Manna is a serious one—yea, a quite sobering one: “But who may abide (Heb. ‘kuwl’—‘to measure up, maintain, abide, bear, comprehend, sustain, etc.’) the Day of His coming? And, who shall stand when He appears?”

We know the answer, don’t we?

No one.

Unless, they’re safely within the Ark, which is the Lord Jesus Christ.

For now, the Ark’s Door is open (Rom. 10:9-10, 13; II Cor. 6:2b).

Sermon Illustrations About Repentance and Second Coming of Christ

Repentance, one of the most important things that all people should learn. It is turning away from sins. It is all about forgetting the past and moving forward. It is all about taking off the old clothes and putting on new one.

But there are still many Christians who find it hard to repent. There are many people who still lived in their old way of life. May these illustrations be a blessing to each one.

Shake It Off and Step Up!

A parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule. The mule fell into the
farmer’s well. The farmer heard the mule braying and went to the site.
After assessing the situation the farmer sympathized with the mule but
decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving.
Instead he called his neighbors and asked them to bring their shovels and
bury the poor mule and put him out of his misery.

The mule seemed hysterical. When the dirt struck his back he shook it off.
As the farmer and his friends continued to shovel a thought struck the
farmer. After each shovel of dirt was thrown onto the mule he said, “Shake
it off and step up.” The mule did what he asked, after every shovel of dirt.
After a time the old mule stepped triumphantly out of the well. What seemed
to bury him actually became his road to freedom.

There is an alternative to every impossible situation. The way is not always
visible to us. But our task is not to work miracles, that is up to God. Our
responsibility is to prepare the way, committing every ounce of energy we
have to the possibility of the transforming power of God, remembering that a
single act of kindness can bring hope to generations yet to come.
