The 20th Convention meeting of Southern Baptist Churches of Visayas was held in Palompon, Leyte at Promised Land Academy. The guest speaker of the meeting was Rev. Mitch Roginsky. Along with him is his son Ptr. John Roginsky and Ms. Anne Gaines.
Rev. Mitch Roginsky talked on becoming “more than conquerors” during the worship time while he also lectured about “eschatology” in break up sessions. Ms. Anne Gaines led the women’s group while Rev. John Roginsky led the youth.
Rev. Fred Aviles also talked about a very interesting topic about family. While in the afternoon Rev. Joey Undag led the discussion about the doctrine of security of salvation. Rev. Vir Olaer led the first morning devotion, Rev. Gammy Beltran the 2nd morning devotion, while Rev. Chris Panio the third morning devotion.
The convention meeting was also special because it was also the election of the new set of Executive Committee which will lead the whole convention for the next three years. The following officers were elected:
- President Rev. Fred Aviles
- Vice President Rev. Joey Undag
- Secretary Victor Rey Beltran
- Treasurer Dr. Erlyn Santos
- Auditor Ptr. Simon
The 21st convention meeting will again be held at Promised Land Academy on 2011 which will be the third consecutive venue of the convention meeting. The Surigao’s and Co. will be leading the next convention meeting.
Overall, this year was the best convention meeting I had for my 4th year full time pastoral ministry here in Leyte. It’s always good to see fellow ministers around.
