OLCM Celebrates It’s 10th Anniversary
Ormoc Lighthouse Christian Ministry celebrates its 10th Anniversary on June 14, 2009. It was one of the major gatherings and perhaps the biggest gathering of the Lighthouse Ministries for the past 5 years.
All of the Lighthouse outreaches in Ormoc attended this great celebration with their respective pastors. Rev. Tom Smith was the guest speaker of the celebration. Ptr. Cleto Bacarro who was the first official pastor of the Lighthouse is also present which made it a great reunion for all Lighthouse pastors and workers
Pastors and Preacher’s Fellowship
Last Saturday, June 13, our pastors together with the our preachers had a lunch fellowship in one of the resort here in Ormoc. Our guests, Tom Smith and the medical team are our honory guests. Tom Smith was the founder of “The Lighthouse Resource Center” which is now known as the “Ormoc Lighthouse Christian Ministry”.

I got this video in one of the forwarded emails. It’s more like an illustration but very true in many ways. It can directly hit us while watching it. At the same time, it is a good reminders for all of us to know whom we are serving.
Nominalism has been a great problem not only by certain churches but almost all churches around the world. Nominalism can be defined as being lax in our faith. And I believe all churches are facing the same problem I do hope that this video clip will in some how awake us from a long sleep. God bless!!!
OLCM Upcoming 10th Anniversary Celebrations and Our T-shirt
Our upcoming Church 10th Anniversary Celebration is only a few days ahead. We will start our celbration a couple of days before Sunday, the big event and will continue 2 days after. This means that the over all celebration is about 5 days long.
But of course we do not have all the energy in purely celebrating through singing and dancing. We have made several events just before the actual celebration. Here’s the list of activities that we will be having over the weekend until next week.
Disciple Making Lesson 1
1.A discipler should be walking by faith. Moses has been a prince of Egypt in his childhood up to the time of his early adulthood. One time in his life, he tried to saved an Israelite being punished by the cruel Egyptian. After killing the Egyptian and with his fear of the Pharaoh, he went to the desert and lived there.
After a while, the Lord appeared to him asking him to lead the Israelites our of Egypt (Exodus 3:11). But Moses immediate response to was to question God about His judgment in choosing him.
June 2009 Baptism
A tiring day, but a fruitful day. This is how I can describe this day’s events in our life in the Lighthouse. The ministry is getting heavier, wider and broader. Behind all these things a reward comes for the discipler.
There’s nothing more exciting with the ministry of a discipler than to see his disciples making disciples and becoming disciplers themselves. This is what is happening to Ormoc Lighthouse Christian Ministry. A group of women who decided to call themselves “Lydia’s Merchants” moved on and started to make disciples. Five from their Bible study group decided to get baptized today

Because Paul was given many deep revelations by the Lord, He was also given a thorn in the flesh as God’s way to keep him humble, lest the greatness of God’s revelations would make him proud to cause his fall.
Pride leads to disgrace, while humility, which depicts a submissive, modest spirit before both God and man, leads to or accompanies wisdom. Proverbs 13:10 contrasts pride and wisdom. The word for “pride” (zadon, for arrogance) is from the verb zid to mean “to boil up” (as in cooking), and sounds much like the Hebrew word for disgrace (qalon). Pride leads to one’s downfall (see Proverbs 18:12; 29:23). Pride is so despicable so that a person should wisely avoid it even if it would mean being economically oppressed. For example, to share plunder acquired by violent or dishonest means with the proud will not go unpunished. The reverse effects of pride and humility warn against the one and encourage the other. Ironically, pride by which a person seeks to elevate himself, actually results in his being brought low, whereas one who is of lowly spirit is elevated by others to a position of honour (cf. Prov. 3:34, 15:33, 16:18-19, 18:12). God hates pride because it would influence a person to forget God’s provisions and graces and to live independently of Him so as to play God as if he is Divine Providence personified.

Sermon: Responding to The Word Of Truth
Last week, we’ve talked about the qualities needed in facing trials. It was mentioned that we need to be swift hearers of God’s words, which means putting to actions, what we have heard. Today, we will be discussing the primary things in becoming “doers of the Word”
Becoming Doers of the Word
1.Laying aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness (v21). Hebrews 12:1 already have spoken to us about getting rid of all sins. We have to do this in order to run easily and win the race. In here, the same thing is being suggested to us, to lay aside all filthiness.
Getting rid of means that it is as if putting off dirty clothes. And we are to receive with meekness the implanted word. The implanted word mentioned here is the the Word of God. Sometimes, it is so hard to accept the word of truth because it can definitely hurt us if we have been disobedient to the word of God.
In worst case scenario, the pastor is blamed for being so harsh even if the passage of the Bible has been read to which the words does not came from the pastor but was recorded in the Bible. And by this, our passage last week told us to be a “swift hearer” of the word.
Brethrens, we can only lay aside all the filthiness by accepting meekly or humbly the Word of Truth.
